Sonsombre – The Future Is Black (Official Video)

Sonsombre is back with their first official video for “The Future Is Black”, the fifth track from their upcoming album “The Veils of Ending”. Shot in part with vintage VHS equipment, the look and feel of the video match the bands unrelenting adherence to the traditional Goth Rock sound. As one of the most energetic tracks on the album, “The Future Is Black” carries strong influence from pinnacle of the 90’s Goth Rock scene. “The Veils of Ending” will officially release on June 1st 2019, pre-orders are available here:

Firmly rooted in the Goth Rock tradition of bands like The Wake, Nosferatu, and The Fields of the NephilimSonsombre evokes the sound and feel of the early 90’s second wave.  Founding member, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Brandon Pybus is a long-time veteran of the metal underground, with more than 12 releases to date with bands such as LycanthropyEye of the SunSuhgurimShield Breaker, and Wytch Goat.   In 2016, with a desire to return to the melodic roots and sounds of the classic Goth bands that shaped the genre, but with a nod to modern classics such as NFDSonsombre was conceptualized.

Several songs were recorded but not released.  Then, in early 2018 the concept was resurrected and more songs were recorded.  As the project took shape, “A Funeral For The Sun” emerged.  In the hopes that this release would re-create the feelings and emotions listening to bands like Suspiria, The Sisters of MercyRosetta Stone, and the like, the decision was made to release the record independently and with no conception of how it would be received.  Fortunately, the response was immediate and positive, with many DJs, podcasters, and Goth Rock fans from around the globe expressing their appreciation for the spirit and execution of “A Funeral For The Sun”.

Oskar Terramortis’ Post Gothic records will release “A Funeral For The Sun” as a limited edition digipaCk in January of 2019.  The body of Oskar’s work from Gothic Music Records and Post Gothic records make this a perfect fit.  Sonsombre is currently working on a follow-on album tentatively scheduled for release in the Spring of 2019 and is preparing for live dates throughout 2019 in support of these releases.
